“The starting point for a first home buyer is to get a good job that pays good money” Joe Hockey
Thats pretty fucking funny.

A nurse does a good job.

A fireman does a good job.

A teacher does a good job.

But do they get good money? No fucking way.

So what jobs get good money?

Politicians get good money.

Bankers get good money.

Stock brokers get good money.

But did they do a good job? No fucking way. Between the three of them they brought about financial crisis and unemployment. They had house prices soaring and wages floundering.

So if I throw together some quick and probably inaccurate maths, Joe Hockey would have been buying his first home around 1985 with a median house price around $60,000 with an average annual wage of around $19,000. And he has the audacity to talk about buying a first home to a generation where the average house price is $570,000 with an annual wage of say $50,000-$60,000.

And not only that but university was free! So there was no $40,000 HECS debt to pay.

Maybe what he meant was;

“The starting point for a first home buyer is to buy a good Delorean with a good flux capacitor and buy a house in 1985″
